Demo

Our Demo sites provide you with access to a number of sample components that we have generated using Component Architect or Component Architect Pro.  The components on the demo site include a modified version of the free Component Architect.  The other sample components illustrate just some of the capabilities you will get from using Component Architect in the generation of your components.  No subscription or registration is required to use the Demo site but any abuse of these sites will result in your IP address being blocked permanently from accessing them.

The Demo sites available are:

Important:  The data in this site will be re-generated every 4 hours from our stored backup.  You will therefore lose any data you have input or modified.  This is intentional.  Please do not contact Component Architect Support to say you have lost data input into any demo site.  You have been warned!

Note: We have removed the Joomla! 2.5 demo site in line with our policy of discontinuing support for EOL(End of Life) versions of Joomla! - Joomla! itself ceased to support Joomla! 2.5 on 31st December 2014.

Component Architect (free)

This is the same component as you will download for your own use but with one major exception - it will not generate any components!  None of our components are intended to be used as a web service and in this demo site we didn't wish to even begin to provide such a capability.  If you wish to actually start generating components then please download the free version of Component Architect and go for it!

To get started go to the Component Architect component and click on Component Wizard enter your component's name and table names (Note: all table names should be singular i.e. Event NOT Events.  The software will generate plural names automatically.).  Once generated you can go to Components/Extensions and Objects/Tables to modify the generated records.  You will also see records automatically generated in the Fieldsets and Fields.

Use the Help button on each web page to learn what you can do.

Component Architect is an administrator only component so you will not see this in the front-end site demo.

Sample Components

To show you just part of what can be achieved with Component Architect we have created a few sample components which have all been installed directly from the zip file generated by Component Architect.  There has been no post generation modification of these to provide additional functionality.

CA Content

Our main code templates are all based on the core components in Joomla! itself and, in particular, the main core component of com_content.  Whilst our code templates and component generation can create components for an un-limited variety of purposes, we thought it would be interesting to see what a Component Architect version of com_content would look like and how it would work.  So here it is!

There are some differences - can you spot them? The reason is that in making our code templates flexible we have had to change some of the structures e.g. in CA Content the blog view is not within the category view.  But overall it works pretty much the same as Joomla!'s version

You can use CA Content in both this admin area and on the site front end.  Add articles, edit them change status, publish etc.  In the front end you will see examples of modules included in our code templates.  Plus standard plugins for navigation, searching (note: Smart Search is not set up on this demo site), voting etc.  Add menu items directly or use the Test Data Generator.  On Menu Items you can check out the flexibility of what is displayed in the front end list and record views.

CA Content Test Data Generator

This demonstrates our Test Data Generator code template which is included in our paid-for Component Architect Pro product.  The version of the code template used to generate this component is a slightly modified one in thatt limits the number of records per table you can generate to 5 records only - you cannot change this.  But you can modify what is to be generated and actually generate those records and menu items.

All Test Data Generator components are administrator only components so you will not see this in the front-end site demo.

CA Events

This is a multi- table (Event, Attendee and Venue) example based on a simple Events system

You can use CA Events in both this admin area and on the site front end but Venues are only added, edited and deleted in the Admin area.  Add events, edit them, change status (publish etc.), add attendees and remove them - in both front-end and admin.  In the front-end you will see examples of modules included in our code templates.  Plus standard plugins for navigation, searching (note: Smart Search is not set up on this demo site), voting etc.  Add menu items directly to create your own views.  On Menu Items you can check out the flexibility of what is displayed in the front end list and record views.

Component Architect Pro

We have used Component Architect itself to generate our Component Architect components.  We bootstrapped this by starting with a code template and some very basic generating code and generating our very first component into which we added improved generating code and improved code templates.  Over a period of 2 years we have constantly rebuilt both our code templates and our generating component.  These are now being released as Component Architect and Component Architect Pro.

This component is the basic version of our Component Architect Pro as it is directly generated from our component definition.  To get the released product we have to add code generation processes, logging processes, automatic field and fieldset creation, some improved field validation code and then some extra javascript to improve usability of the user interface.  So this sample component demonstrates how a complex component can be generated but often that may not be the finished component.  You can compare it with the Component Architect (free) to see some of these additions which have been made to that but also to see how Component Architect Pro has some capabilities beyond the free version.

Component Architect Pro is an administrator only component so you will not see this in the front-end site demo.
